Three-phase power quality analyzers for rent or sale in Monterrey, Mexico: harmonics, flicker, unbalance, sags and swells, and grid code compliance.

Power Quality Analyzers

We have a wide range of three-phase power quality analyzers to help maintain high-quality electrical systems and to prepare the work plan for compliance with the grid code (Código de Red, the Mexican electrical grid code).

These tools provide the capability needed to analyze all parameters, power-related events or electrical anomalies faster, more safely and in more detail than ever.

A power quality analyzer is a tool used to measure and analyze the characteristics of electrical power in a network. This can include measuring voltage, current, frequency, power, power factor, harmonics, phase unbalance, flicker and other parameters.

Here are some of the aspects commonly measured and analyzed in electrical power quality:

Harmonics: these are distortions of the perfect sine wave of electrical power. They can be caused by nonlinear electronic equipment, such as switch-mode power supplies, variable speed drives and power electronics. Harmonics can cause overheating in transformers and motors, equipment malfunction and loss of efficiency.

Voltage and current: power quality analyzers measure the voltage and current in the electrical network. Voltage should be constant, but it can vary due to load fluctuations in the network.

Phase unbalance: phase unbalance occurs when the three phases of a three-phase network are not identical in magnitude or are out of phase in time. This can cause overheating of three-phase motors and loss of efficiency.

Frequency: in many countries, the grid frequency should be 50 Hz or 60 Hz. Frequency variations can cause problems in frequency-sensitive equipment.

Flicker: flicker is a perceptible variation in light intensity that can be caused by rapid, repetitive fluctuations in the network voltage.

Sags and Swells (voltage dips and overvoltages): these are brief, significant decreases or increases in the network voltage. They can be caused by abrupt changes in load, such as the starting of a large motor, and can damage equipment.

The purpose of using a power quality analyzer is to identify problems in the electrical network that can affect equipment performance, energy efficiency and safety. Once these problems are identified, steps can be taken to correct them or mitigate their effects.
