Controlled Humidity Conditioning for Electronics Testing

Controlled humidity conditioning (30 to 90 % RH) for electrical and electronics testing, with traceable reports. Lab in Monterrey, Mexico.

Controlled Humidity Conditioning for Electronics Testing

Our laboratory offers a specialized controlled humidity conditioning service for electrical and electronic tests that require rigorous environmental stability. We use the ETS Electro-Test Systems Model 514, the Sun Electronics Systems EC01 (REV.B) environmental chamber and the ETS Lindgren 5472-NP ultrasonic humidifier to generate stable, uniform and traceable environments with relative humidity between 30 and 90 percent.

This service is essential when evaluating the electrical behavior of materials, devices, components and modules that are sensitive to humidity. Humidity variation directly affects permittivity, permeability, resistivity, impedances, dielectric losses, capacitance, electrical noise, sensor sensitivity and measurement stability.

By pre-stabilizing the equipment or materials, tests performed with vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, impedance analyzers, LCR meters, precision multimeters or oscilloscopes deliver repeatability and reliable results. It is also ideal for liquid or solid materials that require prior conditioning before measuring their dielectric constant, conductivity or general electrical behavior.

The customer receives a complete record of the process, humidity and temperature plots, and photographs and videos of the process, with evidence of stabilization and instrument traceability.

During conditioning, we control humidity between 10 % and 95 % RH, using professional Molecular Sieve equipment and an ultrasonic humidifier, allowing samples to stabilize before measurements with impedance analyzers, LCR meters, high-precision multimeters, vector network analyzers, oscilloscopes, low- and high-resistance meters, liquid and solid test fixtures, and dielectric and magnetic characterization equipment.

Standards that commonly require specific conditioning include ASTM D257, ASTM E104, IEC 60068-2-78 for steady-state humidity, IEC 60068-2-30 for damp heat cycling, IPC-TM-650 for PCB conditioning, and specific ANSI/ESD requirements for stabilization before dissipative measurements. We meet the required stabilization times and provide photographic evidence of the process for audits and laboratory validations.

In all of our environmental analyses and laboratory tests where temperature is a critical parameter, we guarantee metrological control through in-house verification of our thermal systems. Each test is backed by temperature validation using our dry-block calibrator, with an operating range of -30 °C to 150 °C, resolution of 0.01 °C, thermal stability of ±0.02 °C and display accuracy of ±0.1 °C. We also evaluate block uniformity (horizontal ≤ ±0.05 °C) and the controlled vertical gradient, which ensures that measurements remain within the established uncertainties. This approach allows us to confirm the stability, uniformity and accuracy of the test conditions, providing reliable, traceable and technically supported results. The expanded uncertainty of the system is determined as a function of the operating point, the sensor under test and the process conditions.
