High-Voltage Differential Probes for Oscilloscopes
“Measure high voltage safely, accurately and noise-free”
What Are High-Voltage Differential Probes?
High-voltage differential probes are indispensable accessories for accurate measurements between two voltage points that are not referenced to ground. They are essential when the circuit exceeds the safe levels for a standard passive probe, especially in power electronics, electric automotive, switched-mode power supplies and renewable energy systems.
How Do They Work?
These probes isolate the operator from the circuit using balanced differential amplification technology, which makes it possible to measure floating voltages (with no direct ground connection) with great accuracy and without introducing noise or distortion. The output connects to the oscilloscope through a BNC input, delivering a safe, clean signal.
Key Benefits of Using High-Voltage Differential Probes:
Guaranteed electrical safety: prevent accidental shocks or short circuits
True measurements on floating and high-energy systems
High immunity to electrical noise and ground loops
Compatibility with digital oscilloscopes of any brand
Protection of the instrument and the operator against high potentials
Greater fidelity on fast or switched signals (up to 100 MHz or more)
Portable designs with rechargeable battery, ideal for field and laboratory
Common Applications:
Switched-mode power supplies (SMPS) – Switching, harmonics and efficiency analysis
Photovoltaic and wind inverters – AC/DC diagnostics without risk
Electric and hybrid vehicles – Measurements on power systems and BMS
Power electronics – Verification of IGBT/MOSFET drivers
Industrial maintenance – Quality control in three-phase systems
Education and research – Safe testing in academic environments
Differential measurement in controllers, PLCs and converters
