High-Gain, Wide-Bandwidth RF Antenna Rental

We have specialized antennas at our laboratory in Monterrey for use with spectrum analyzers.

Radio frequency antennas are used to transmit and receive electromagnetic signals in different applications such as communications, navigation, radar, and television. They are classified by design, radiation pattern, and frequency range.

1. Antennas by Radiation Pattern

Omnidirectional Antennas

360° coverage in a horizontal plane
Used in cellular base stations, WiFi, GPS, and VHF/UHF radio.
Examples:

  • Whip antenna – Small, common in portable radios.
  • Dipole antenna – Widely used in FM and TV.
  • Collinear antenna – Higher gain for telecommunications.

Directional Antennas

Concentrate the signal in a specific direction
Used in point-to-point links, radar, and satellite communications.
Examples:

  • Yagi-Uda antenna – Used in TV, telecommunications, and WiFi.
  • Parabolic antenna – For satellites and microwave links.
  • Slot antenna – In radar and aeronautical systems.

Semi-Directional Antennas

Radiate over a wide area, but not in all directions
Used in WiFi networks, telecommunications, and surveillance radar.
Examples:

  • Panel antenna – Common in cellular base stations.
  • Patch (microstrip) antenna – Used in GPS and RFID.
  • Sector antenna – Covers specific sectors in telecommunications.

2. Antennas by Design and Application

Wideband Antennas

Cover a wide range of frequencies
Used in military communications, radio astronomy, and radar.
Examples:

  • Log-periodic antenna – Television and telecommunications.
  • Discone antenna – VHF/UHF and amateur radio applications.
  • Horn antenna – RF testing and radar.
  • High-Frequency and Satellite Antennas

Operate at microwave and millimeter-wave frequencies
Used in GPS, satellite telecommunications, and radar.
Examples:

  • Helical antenna – GPS and space communications.
  • Parabolic reflector antenna – Satellite links and radar.
  • Phased array antenna – Military radar and 5G telecommunications.

The choice of antenna depends on the frequency, the radiation pattern, and the specific application. For GPS, patch or helical antennas are used; for WiFi links, Yagi or sector antennas; and for satellite communications, parabolic or phased array antennas.

Dipole Antenna – Basic and omnidirectional, used in FM radio and television.
Monopole Antenna (whip) – Similar to the dipole but with a single element, common in mobile radios and walkie-talkies.
Collinear Antenna – Several dipole antennas in series for higher gain, used in telecommunications.

Aperture Antennas

Horn Antenna – Directional, used in radar and RF measurements.
Slot Antenna – Common in aircraft and military systems.
Parabolic Antenna – Used in satellites, telecommunications, and astronomy.

Microwave and High-Frequency Antennas

Helical Antenna – Directional with circular polarization, used in GPS and space communications.
Patch (Microstrip) Antenna – Compact and flat, used in GPS, RFID, and WiFi.
Log-Periodic Antenna – Wide frequency range, used in television and measurements.
Phased Array Antenna – With multiple controllable elements, used in radar and 5G.
