In the context of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), EMC probes are used to make measurements and perform tests intended to evaluate and ensure that electronic devices meet electromagnetic emissions and susceptibility requirements.
At Creativeit Group we have an EMC near-field probe set for rent, which includes a set of magnetic-field and electric-field probes for pre-compliance measurements of radiated emissions. EMC probes are used in the near field of electromagnetic radiation sources and serve to locate and identify possible sources of interference within the basic components of electronic modules. EMC probes act similarly to wide-bandwidth antennas, picking up radiated emissions from components, PCB traces, enclosure openings or gaps, and any other part that may be emitting RF. When in use, these EMC probes are normally connected to a spectrum analyzer.
