Combined Testing: Temperature, 1.7 MHz Ultrasonic Humidity and Vacuum

Combined temperature, 1.7 MHz ultrasonic humidity and partial vacuum testing with 20 MS/s logging. Environmental lab in Monterrey, Mexico.

Combined Testing: Temperature, 1.7 MHz Ultrasonic Humidity and Vacuum

We offer unique tests that combine temperature, humidity and partial vacuum in a single process, making it possible to simulate complex scenarios in which multiple environmental factors interact simultaneously. This type of test is ideal for evaluating the reliability of products subjected to extreme or unpredictable conditions, where humidity enters cavities before a pressure change, or where a hot part quickly enters a humid or low-pressure environment.

The fine mist generated by the 1.7 MHz resonator can penetrate small spaces and adhere to surfaces before the pressure drops. This makes it possible to study how moisture trapped in joints, cavities, encapsulations or connectors behaves during a pressure drop or a rapid temperature rise. These conditions are extremely difficult to replicate, and therefore represent very high added value for the customer.

With the Hioki 8860 running at 20 MS/s, we record in real time the electrical events that result from the interaction between humidity, vacuum and temperature. This includes partial discharges, transient arcing, resistive fluctuations due to instantaneous condensation and ionization effects that may appear during pressure reduction. This capability turns the combined test into a comprehensive stress evaluation for any device.

Results are delivered in a fully documented report, with plots, photographs, video, detailed technical explanation and conclusions based on real data. This documentation allows the customer to understand precisely how the device behaves in an extreme, multi-factor environmental scenario, supporting design decisions, material selection or prototype validation.

In all of our environmental analyses and laboratory tests where temperature is a critical parameter, we guarantee metrological control through in-house verification of our thermal systems. Each test is backed by temperature validation using our dry-block calibrator, with an operating range of -30 °C to 150 °C, resolution of 0.01 °C, thermal stability of ±0.02 °C and display accuracy of ±0.1 °C. We also evaluate block uniformity (horizontal ≤ ±0.05 °C) and the controlled vertical gradient, which ensures that measurements remain within the established uncertainties. This approach allows us to confirm the stability, uniformity and accuracy of the test conditions, providing reliable, traceable and technically supported results. The expanded uncertainty of the system is determined as a function of the operating point, the sensor under test and the process conditions.
